I love listening to older music thats influenced todays sounds, I believe its called 'experiencing the fruits of a former culture' or something. But 'Greatest Hits' compilations annoy me, a huge aspect of an album is the tracklisting and the way an album flows - but as soon as a money-hungry record label take an artist/bands work, pick the good songs and burn it onto a disc something is lost in the process. 'Greatest Hits' are an excellent way of introducing yourself to a band and it makes them more accessible, but listening to the album that defines them gives you a better idea of what they are like: Sgt. Peppers, OK Computer, Queen Is Dead, etc...
This blog came after I saw the tracklisting of EMI's 'Radiohead - Best Of'. Whats that? Cash-in? Yeaaah
